St.
Mary's Church and St John's, Churchill form one Parish of the Locking Deanery in the Diocese of Bath & Wells. The adult population of Langford according to the
Register of Electors of 1999 comprises 1214 adults in approximately 584 dwellings.
Practically all live within less than 3/4 of a mile of St. Mary's Church, the
majority being in the area bounded by Bridgwater Road, Ladymead Lane, Pudding
Pie Lane and Stock Lane.
Families very much dominate the population scene. Additionally
there is some local authority housing for elderly in St. Mary's Gardens very
close to the Church and also a significant population of Vet students and others
associated with Langford House, some of whom live on the campus and others in
the surrounding villages.
Relations between the Church and Churchill Primary School are good and Church
work with children of Primary School age is probably among the healthiest within
North Somerset. Other places of worship comprise an Independent Evangelical
Chapel, and Churchill Methodist Church. The nearest Catholic Church is in Cheddar.
