Powerhouse

Latest progress!

Following on from the tree surgery the car park is currently being resurfaced starting 4th January 2012 - Hurrah no more potholes and mud!

 We have a vision of St Mary’s church being a “powerhouse” for God’s mission in the area. The Powerhouse Project is one initiative our church has instigated to help this vision become reality. The objective of this particular project is to improve the facilities at the church.

The church is a small, simple building which is clearly inadequate for our growing congregation. A congregation growing in faith – and growing in numbers.

We would like to extend the building and in doing so provide:-
Additional space for use during and after services – making the church a practical venue for community celebrations
An administrative centre for the church activities and secure storage for equipment.
A flexible space for the benefit of the whole community.
A space for prayer, healing and counselling;
Proper toilet and baby changing facilities
Permanent kitchen facilities to cater for events held at the church

In doing all this we will also increase capacity in the existing building for our growing congregation.

Completion of this project will not only provide a more welcoming, comfortable and flexible environment for our congregation, but more importantly it will enable us to continue developing God’s ministry at St Mary’s. In response to the challenge we have been given we have developed clear strategies to:-
Increase our outreach activities in the community;
Provide a modern worship centre for the community;.
Create a centre for children’s activities at St. Mary’s.
Put St Mary’s at the centre of community life in Langford and Churchill.

 Providing adequate, modern facilities will be a significant aid in all our activities and benefit our community for years to come.

Plans have been drawn up, local authority planning permission has been granted in July 2010 and we are now awaiting diocesan approval - from that point we will be able to apply for funding for the build. the anticipated cost is estimated at £350,000.
